Gift Recommendations - As dance instructors, we always recommend that our students attend age appropriate live theater with their parents. Seeing dancers on stage is an experience children will never forget. There are also many audio CDs available for children to stimulate their creativity. Frequently, we are asked to suggest books for dancers that can be given as gifts. In this issue and in the upcoming editions of FOOTNOTES the teachers will tell you about their favorite books, videos, or CDs. We hope you will find the perfect one for your dancer. Bravo FundraiserBravo is once again having a Basket/Jar Raffle Fundraiser at the June 2011 Dance Review. The money we raise goes toward Summer Scholarships, Nutcracker Costume updates and replacement, and many activities our dancers enjoy. We are asking for your help with our Raffle again this year. How does this work? A glass jar will be in front of each “basket/display.” The basket/display will have items that are donated from our families with the various themes that you may have seen posted in the Studio. We have 7 themes. Dancer’s Dream, Disney Wishes, Food and Drink, Just for the Ladies, A Night Out, Sports and Recreation and Home and Garden. We are asking the next time you are in the Studio please take a look at the wall outside Studio A and see if you would like to participate and donate an item for one of our basket/display’s. We are still in need of some basket chairpersons. All you have to do is coordinate the donations for the theme. Please consider donating and volunteering for this Fundraiser. During these economic times we understand if you are unable to participate in the Raffle Fundraiser. Your dancer will NOT be penalized in any way. |
| Cecchetti Classes Offered Classes in the Cecchetti method, covering the Grade One syllabus will be offered this fall on Saturday afternoons. Miss Angie will be conducting the classes, for which serious dancers of at least elementary level are eligible. The class size is limited and prospective dancers will be assessed by the teacher to determine their readiness for the class. The Cecchetti Method of ballet was established by Enrico Cecchetti and utilizes his teaching and writings in a sequence of grades, providing accredited examinations to test the student's proficiency. Through the practicing of set exercises, the students are able to increase their knowledge of ballet theory and technique. These classes are an extension of the dancers' regular classes, and students who participate must maintain their attendance in their weekly scheduled classes. The Cecchetti Council of America holds examinations in classical ballet for students and teachers who are training in the Cecchetti method. The syllabus tests the technical and artistic accomplishments of student candidates who have been prepared by member teachers. It offers students an opportunity to demonstrate their technical ability and understanding of the material. Each level provides attainable goals that build self-confidence in their developmental progress and successful achievements. At the appropriate time, dancers will be advised if they are ready to take the graded test or if they will require further study and preparation. For more information visit The Cecchetti Council of America, Inc website. To inquire about taking the Cecchetti Grade One classes, leave your name and phone number at the Front Desk. |
