REGISTRATION AND TUITION POLICY

All information regarding tuition, costume fees, holiday closings, and required attire may be found on the Studio Policy sheet.

ENROLLMENT POLICY

Throughout the month of September ALL students are automatically assessed to ensure that they have been placed in the correct level of dance. In some cases, students may be moved to a different class after being evaluated. The dedicated teaching staff spends a great deal of time placing dancers in the class that will allow each student to progress to his or her potential.

The teachers will not entertain any requests for a specific student’s level to be changed or reviewed during the month of September. As stated above, ALL students are automatically assessed. Parents should not phone the studio with questions about level placement. However, beginning in October, parents with concerns may submit IN WRITING an explanation of their concerns and a request for a phone call from the teacher.

Modern Dance students and those students who have reached the Advanced level of Jazz are required to study ballet. In order to continue to progress after attaining this level of dance, it is important for the student to understand body placement, improve turning ability, and develop a better sense of balance and other techniques taught in the ballet class. No exceptions will be made.

Students must be 3 years of age as of August 31, of the current year to begin Pre Ballet classes, 5 years of age to begin PreTap, 7 years of age or in Primary II Ballet level to begin Jazz. To begin the study of Modern dance students must be 12 years of age and in the Intermediate2 Ballet level.

CLASS ATTIRE

Proper dance attire is required in all classes. (Please see Studio Policy sheet.)  Hair MUST be off the neck. In addition, no jewelry may be worn in class. We strongly suggest that jewelry be left at home to prevent losing valuable items. The studio is not responsible for lost items. No gum is allowed in class. The teachers will give a verbal reminder to students coming to class in incorrect attire. Students in inappropriate attire will be allowed to observe but not to participate in class.

ABSENCES

Progress for the individual dancer and the entire class depends upon good attendance. Extended absences due to illness may require make-up lessons at the discretion of the teacher. Please arrive for class on time.  Students who arrive late disrupt class and miss important warm-up exercises.

CANCELLED CLASSES

The studio does not follow any specific school district policy regarding bad weather and cancelled classes. We will post on our website and record a message on our studio phone letting you know if we are open or cancelling classes that day. The decision will be made by 2pm and is based upon the majority of the students. We realize that some areas may not be cleared of snow or subdivisions may be difficult to get out of, so we understand if all students don't make it in. Safety first!

There is no refund for these cancelled classes.  The annual tuition allows for classes that may need to be cancelled for bad weather as well as classes cancelled for various holidays. The tuition is based on an annual fee and is not dependent on the number of classes in any month.

CLASSROOM DISCIPLINE

As in every art form, discipline in dance is very important. In order to instill this sense of discipline, teachers will ask students to refrain from talking socially during class. Correction in the matter will be age appropriate.  Dancers will be expected to show respect for their teachers and their classmates at all times.

CLASS OBSERVATION

Several times a year parents will be invited to observe their child’s progress in class and hear announcements. Dates and times of Class Observation will be available on the website and will be posted at the studio. If you are unable to attend the entire class, please attend the last 20 minutes for announcements.

STUDIO ANNOUNCEMENTS AND NEWS

The studio uses various methods of keeping parents informed of studio information and activities.

*  The studio website:  www.bunnysanfordschoolofdance.com.

*  Announcements made during parent observations days.

*  Information posted on various studio bulletin boards.

ANNUAL REVUE AND TICKET LOTTERY

The dates and location of our annual revue will be announced as soon as we receive confirmation from the Livonia Public Schools. The Ticket Lottery will be held in May. Tickets are reserved seating. More information regarding tickets will be given at a later date. Your account must be paid in full in order to receive tickets.

RECEPTION AREA

A quiet reception area is conducive for students and teachers alike. Siblings, cell phones, loud conversations, etc are very disruptive. In order to maintain a minimum noise level at the studio, parents are encouraged to drop off their dancer and return when the class is scheduled to finish.

FOOD AND DRINK

NO food or drink is allowed in the dressing rooms or dance rooms at any time including Parent Observation Days. We suggest that parents/siblings enjoy a snack at the nearby McDonalds rather than in the studio.

ADDITIONAL SAFETY

For the safety of our students and their families children are not permitted to play on the sidewalk or in the parking lot in front of or behind the studio. Parents, please be aware that the studio strongly discourages dancers from crossing  Ann Arbor Trail to walk to the convenience store.

BRAVO

All parents of dancers at Bunny Sanford’s School of Dance of are members of BRAVO, an organization that supports its
dancers by promoting and providing a variety of additional opportunities for the students to grow as dancers.
Information regarding meetings and activities will be posted on the BRAVO bulletin board and provided by way of
email and flyers sent home with your dancer.
